Job Description

Summary / Objective:
-- Senior level position with extensive knowledge and experience in Oracle, SQL Server,Oracle Application Server 10gand O/S.
-- Demonstrate ability to assist others in completing work, handle assignments across varying areas of expertise and is usually called upon to perform in multiple roles
-- Excellent written, verbal and graphical communication skills for routine businesses and project status updates

Time Spent on Primary Activities:
-- Running day to day operations 60% is devoted to internal or external client requests or problem tickets, 30% to administrative duties (Backups, alert log checks, regular and internal documentation), 10% daily time management documentation.
-- Proactive monitoring and maintenance of databases
-- Installation and Configuration of Database Software's, Patch Management

Responsibilities:
-- Install and support database servers, clients and application development programs
-- Day to day database maintenance tasks ( Monitoring, Backups, space Management, resource utilization, etc )
-- Responsible for performing object migration between database instances, (e.g., development, testing, production)
-- Testing of new releases and features for application, O/S and Database upgrade
-- Troubleshoot application level performance and Optimize database/ application performance
-- Manages problems, issues, service tickets and change management requests
-- Create and manage tables, indexes, constraints, stored procedures, etc
-- Performance and application tuning using Stats Pack, SQL profiler, SqlLab , etc.
-- Use RMAN/EBU to do backup and recovery.
-- Work closely with infrastructure staff to assist with successful installation, upgrades, and patches
-- Interaction with client-side developers and QA is required
-- Provide on-call support during non-business hours
-- Establish and implement policies and procedures pertaining to data base security, maintenance, and use
-- Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements
-- Upgrade database versions, apply patches and validate/ test applications.
-- Take part in JAD sessions, provide technical feedback.
-- Individually troubleshoot application level performance and Optimize database/ application performance

Desired Candidate Profile

Educational Requirements:
-- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience/Certifications within area related to job function.

Professional Experience / Qualifications:
-- 5 years or more experience in relational databases using Oracle, SQL Server, Application servers. Work exposure in Oracle ERP applications ( Oracle 11i ) a plus
-- Installation, Upgrade, support and Monitor Oracle (9i & 10g ), SQL Server(2000 & 2005 ) databases and Oracle application Servers ( OAS/ 10iAS )
-- Working knowledge on real application clustering ( RAC ) ,Data Guard and high availability systems
-- Supporting/ administering large (multi-terabyte) Oracle 8i/9i databases
-- Programming Experience, application tuning, using monitoring tools from Quest, Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server
-- Strong Windows and Unix operating system
-- Exposed to Legato Networker and EMC storage and performing backup and recovery operations
-- Work exposure to EMC Symmetric/ Clarion Storage, knowledge of BCV's
-- Good concepts on Oracle and SQL Server database architecture and internals
